Brianne Macy ‘10
Since graduation, Brianne has been pursuing her passion for marketing in New York City. After starting with a job in media planning for Subway, she is now a Media and Communications Planner at Carat, where she works on Procter and Gamble brands.
Brianne with a B.S. in Marketing and a minor in Commercial Spanish. As an undergrad, she was part of the inaugural class of Design and Innovation in Marketing Fellows. Her team placed second in the national EdVenture competition and went to Detroit to deliver their strategic plan to General Motors administration. Brianne also served as the Director of Marketing and PR for the business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi, earning her recognition as the 2008 National Member of the Year.
Michael Marcus ‘11
Graham Garvie ‘09
Michael currently works at JWT (formally J. Walter Thompson) as an account associate on the Johnson & Johnson account, focusing primarily on digital, but also concentrating on print and television. This February, Michael will be launching J&J’s first ever black box pharmaceutical responsive design website and in the spring, will be producing two new television spots and creating a new YouTube channel.
Before coming to JWT, Michael spent two years as a marketing specialist at Time Warner Cable. He developed unique marketing materials, for both on-air and online campaigns for large clients and agencies such as Hyundai, SeaWorld and Showtime.
Michael is involved in the Advertising Club of New York and the Advertising Research Foundation. He currently lives in Hoboken, NJ and enjoys exercising and traveling.
Michael graduated with a BS in Marketing and BA in Communications from UMD.
Graham is an Associate in Brand Strategy based in Lippincott’s New York office. In this role he works on brand positioning, customer experience and naming projects for clients including Delta, Citi, Condé Nast and Samsung. Prior to Lippincott, Graham was a Consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton's Organization and Strategy practice, where he worked with clients across the financial services, healthcare and non-profit sectors.
Outside of work, Graham is Co-Chair of SmithNY, the Smith school's NYC alumni organization, and passionate about helping students identify careers at the intersection of their interests.
While at Maryland, he was involved with The Bureau. He is an avid traveler and photographer.
Laura Palantone ‘12
Laura Palantone is a communications consultant at APCO Worldwide, a global communications, stakeholder engagement and business strategy firm, in New York. She has experience in corporate social responsibility (CSR)/sustainability reporting and communications, community engagement, strategic philanthropy, and cause marketing.
Prior to her current role, Laura was a CSR intern in APCO’s Washington, D.C., office. She also interned in the business development department of AR New York, a boutique advertising agency, and in the marketing and communications department of Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton, N.J.
Laura contributes to Shared Purpose and Armchair Advocates, blogging about CSR communications and marketing. She also is a member of the NY+Acumen’s Partnerships & Innovations committee and volunteers with Art Start and the New York Women’s Foundation.
Laura received a BS in Marketing and Communication from UMD. While at the University, she served as secretary to the university's Public Relations Student Society of America chapter, vice president of public relations for the Panhellenic Association, and was member of the Terp American Marketing Association.
Alex McCord ‘12
Mitch works as an Account Director at a digital media and technology publisher, MediaShift, in NYC. Some of his clients include: Virgin Airlines, Hershey’s, Disney Entertainment, AMC, Obamacare and HHS, and the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism. He previously worked in digital strategy and sales for Kontera. Mitch is also the President of the New York Terps, the University of Maryland Alumni Association’s New York Chapter, and is committed to building a pipeline of high-quality talented marketers from the University of Maryland for years to come. He is planning to pursue an MBA in hopes to becoming a global brand manager working on developing marketing and sales plans for CPGs in emerging markets. Mitch Levine graduated from Smith with a dual BS in Marketing and Supply Chain Management where he was on the terpAMA executive board.
Alex is an eCommerce Account Manager at Compass Marketing in Annapolis, Maryland,where he handles in all aspects of over 7,000 items online including item management, supply chain, finance, data analysis, merchandising, strategy, and promotion.
Alex McCord is a Smith School Alumni that graduated from the University of Maryland in 2012 with a degree in Marketing and Operations Management. While attending school, Alex was heavily involved in terpAMA, Sigma Chi Fraternity and the QUEST program. His senior year he took an Analyst position at Compass Marketing.

Jimmy Lyons ‘07
Aaron now works as a Research Analyst for The Nielsen Company in New York City. Upon graduation, he dove into the world of networking and informational interviews in hopes of discovering where he could best blend his passions for marketing, technology and social responsibility. Countless conversations with Maryland alumni and LinkedIn connections ultimately led him to Nielsen, where he is incredibly happy. He is very grateful for those who've guided him along the way, and is excited to pay it forward by serving on the Young Alumni Council.
Aaron graduated from the Robert H. Smith School of Business with a degree in Marketing and Information Systems. While at the Smith School, Aaron was also heavily involved with the Design Fellows Program and the Center for Social Value Creation.
Jimmy moved to San Francisco after graduating and started work at Google. Currently he works as an Analytical Lead at Google, where he consults with global advertisers on their marketing strategies.
Jimmy graduated with a double major in Finance & Marketing. As a student, Jimmy won the “Pitch Dingman” competition and worked closely with the Dingman Center to grow his business, Terps Marketing, LLC. He was in the first cohort of the Design and Innovation in Fellows program.
